History

The Beernink family has been in the leather business for generations! Back in 1993, Willem Jan Beernink and his father teamed up to create Bear Design—a timeless collection of bags designed for everyday explorers, both men and women. Fast-forward 30 years, and BEAR is still going strong, crafting high-quality leather bags in collaboration with its very first suppliers.

But after three decades of success, Willem Jan and his long-time supplier, Vikas Gupta, caught the buzz of a new idea. It was time for something fresh, something sleek—something effortlessly luxurious. A bag for the young, modern woman who knows exactly what she wants. And just like that, BEE was born!

Sustainability

For BEE, creating high-quality leather bags goes beyond design—it’s about sustainability, craftsmanship, and long-lasting partnerships. Our leather bags are produced with care and respect for both people and the environment. We have been working closely with our trusted suppliers in India for three decades, building a strong and reliable partnership. This ensures not only fair and transparent production processes but also continuous development in high quality.

The leather we use is largely tanned using biological methods, reducing harmful chemicals and making the process safer for both the environment and the craftspeople. After tanning, the leather is treated with natural wax and oil, resulting in unique, rich colors while also providing excellent protection against water and wear.
